  Flip Flop cottage was adorable. Loved the location close to the beach, but Jones Ave. is a busy street. The only negative about the property was that the outdoor shower was far away from any door and seemed like it was in the woods, with pine needles everywhere and not very hospitable. My kids saw a snake and refused to shower anywhere but inside. Otherwise it was a fun stay. I'd choose other Mermaid cottages, just not this one.

    Thank you so much for the feedback on the outdoor shower and I have forwarded this to our housekeeping manager. Because it is the secondary route from one end to the other end of the island, Jones Ave can be busy at times and the city has taken steps to slow it down by reducing the speed limit to 20mph and placing stop signs at some of the busier intersections. But the location also gives the advantage of the proximity to the city park and playground with the tennis courts and beach vollyball across the street. On your next visit, please let us know about this visit and we can assist you with a cottage at the quieter end of the island. I'm glad you did enjoy the cottage and the beach and we hope we see you back soon.

  Flip Flop was just the right choice for a group of 5 teens and 2 adults! We had plenty of space and 3 min. walk to the Beach. Close to everything. We liked it because it was on the quite side and not too buggy. The only things that we would suggest is
  another trash can or two inside the cottage, and maybe a covered can out back. Also, the refrigerator needs a checking froze everything we put in there (didn't touch the dials)except the things in the door. But it was perfect for our needs. I know my family
  will be back very soon!

  My sister and her family joined us. The cottage layout was great for our big group. We loved the huge dining room table which had plenty of room for all of us to eat dinner together. Being close to the park was great for my nephews. They could walk to the beach or to play basketball.

  We had a fabulous time at Flip Flop Cottage! My four kids (ages 13-21) and I loved our stay on Tybee Island! I was very pleased with the cleanliness of our cottage. I was surprised that it was so big, and even cuter than the pictures online! The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need, and the cottage itself was just so comfortable and cozy! We already want to plan our next trip to Tybee!

  My two children(9, 11) and my dear friend and her two children spent a long weekend at the Flip Flop Cottage for the Tybee Island Beach Bum Parade and had a FABULOUS time!!!! The location is incredible and we loved the spaciousness of the cottage. It had everything we needed and then some!!! WE will be back next year for the parade and hopefully during the summer, as well!!!!!

  The Flip Flop Cottage was very cute, but it needs some updating. The outside needed painting and the yard was unkept. Also there has been a leak in the bathroom and the wood around the door facing had rotted.

  We had a great vacation, good company, great food, warm weather and a perfect beach. I would stay at a Mermaid property again however I would want to find one that suited my needs better. The Flip Flop cottage would be better served for college age guests as I would consider it "Grungie". Older guests or ones with children would have higher expectations, i.e. no paint peeling, clean floors, fresher linens. Mermaid Cottages were very prompt and the overall process was welcoming and seamless. I just wished the cottage we rented was in better shape and this is from someone who has owned a 1940's cottage which likes old but knows it can be "sparkly clean."

  The cottage is in a great location for walks on the beach. The living room was comfortable for watching DVDs in the evening. The kitchen was well equipped so we could prepare our own meals. It's a short drive to Savannah and other attractions. We had a wonderful stay.

  We stayed in the Flip Flop Cottage and didn't want to leave! The beds were wonderfully comfortable and all the furniture was great. The bathrooms were nice and clean and having a washer and dryer was fabulous! We loved the screened porch and spent a lot of time out there. The location was perfect - a nice quiet street, but 5 minutes from where everything was happening. We will tell everyone we know about this beautiful place to stay and we are already planning on coming back in a couple of years.

  We stayed in the Flip Flop between Christmas and New Year's. We enjoyed wonderful weather, great food and New Year's Eve watching the fireworks on the beach. It was a wonderful visit.   The only disappointment that we have experienced is Mermaid Cottages decision to do away with their Off-Season rates. Unfortunately, my family will no longer be able to afford to stay at The Flip Flop Cottage for our yearly vacation but we will continue to vacation on Tybee. Tybee Island is a great place and the locals are wonderful as are all the helpful employees of Mermaid Cottages! You are treated as if you are long lost friends. Staying on Tybee leaves you so close to Savannah, one of the greatest cities in the world that you can lay on the beach all morning and be at Angel's having barbeque for lunch in downtown Savannah in 20 minutes! You can't go wrong with a Tybee Island vacation in a Mermaid Cottage.

  If you like a beach house with lots of personality, then you'll really like this little cottage! I personally am tired of neutral decor, so it was a breath of fresh air for me! Plenty of beds--we took 7 (2 parents, 5 kids)and had plenty of room. The location was convenient, especially if you bring bikes, which I recommend as it costs money to park at the beach.

  my family has been vacationing on tybee for years.we have taken turns renting property and by far the mermaids are our favorite!each cottage has its own personal charm.all of our family and friends have commented on how nice the linens are!i appreciate the cottage being open to welcome me in and not have to deal with a traditional check in process.last year we came down several times and did rent from another company on one of our visits.we found it quite strange that they requested the names of our guests.the linens provided were poor,as well as the kitchen make up of 3-4 plastic glasses.the filters were filthy and the yard overgrown!needless to say we made the most of it but vowed to only rent from mermaid for future trips!

  We had the very best family vacation while staying at Flip Flop Cottage. We were in GA for my brother's wedding and the cottage was large enough for all of us (9 people) to have our own space yet be together. And being on one level was great for the older family members. We used the bikes most days and walked to the beach. My father passed away soon after our trip and it will be remembered as one of the last great family gatherings with him.   This is an adorable little cottage. It was great for our group of 7 women, and would would be great for a family with kids, or even a couple's getaway. We had a refreshing walk to the beach and just loved Tybee Island. And the price is unbeatable!
