  • Our cottage is on 2nd Ave which is the main biking path on the island.
  • The front porch has a wonderful view of the oaks and the bike riders who frequent 7th and 2nd Avenues
  • This is a closer view of the wonderful Water Oak tree and screened porch. The yard is very shady and keeps the whole cottage cool in the summer heat.
  • The front screened porch features rocking chairs and a view of 7th Street.
  • Plenty of rocking chairs for the front screened porch! Perfect for people watching the beach strollers or bicyclist or enjoying the peacefulness of the quiet street.
  • Our back screened porch overlooking the pool.
  • This cottage has two screened porches, one on the front of the cottage and this one, located off the kitchen and dining room. The pool is located right outside this porch.
  • The back screened porch has table seating as well as wicker chairs and sofa seating.
  • The back yard has seating and unbrella. This area connects to the private pool and has just the right amount of room for sunbathing in the private back yard if you need a break from the beach or for that late afternoon ice tea break!
  • Nothing like a cool dip in your own private pool before enjoying a nice southern ice tea on the back screened porch or open gathering deck.
  • This wonderful pool features a crab fountain constantly blowing water into the pool! What a fun addition to the cottage!
  • The swimming pool wraps around the side screened porch.
  • This master bedroom features a queen bed. The coral room and matching bathroom will surround you with the feeling of a warm beach flooded with warmth.
  • The tv in the 1st floor master bedroom.
  • This master bathroom is on the 1st floor and right off the master bedroom.
  • The connecting master bathroom features full bathroom with shower/tub.
  • Mexican tile and unique sink in the master bathroom.

  • Bedroom 2 with full bed is also on the first floor. TV/ DVD in this bedroom. 100% cotton sheets and plush pillows. There is also a full bathroom for this bedroom.

  • Bedroom 3 is on the 2nd floor with King bed and TV/DVD. There is a full bathroom on this floor as well.
  • The tv and the king bedroom which is upstairs.
  • Bedroom 3 features king bed, TV/ DVD player and seating area.
  • Bedroom 3's overstuffed chair is just the perfect spot to curl up with that suspense filled mystery novel you have been waiting to read.
  • The full bathroom on the 2nd floor features tub and shower.
  • Bedroom 4 is on the 2nd floor with 1 double bed and 1 small twin bed. The small twin is ideal for a child or petite adult. TV/ DVD is also in the bedroom
  • The living room is on the first floor and features a fireplace and a flat screen large tv over the fireplace.
  • The living room is on the 1st floor, working fireplace and large screen TV with DVD.
  • Our Living room features a large screen TV/ DVD with mulitple cable channels. We also offer lots of great beach books to enjoy.
  • The living room leads into the dining room. Hard wood floors, cheerful beach colors everywhere in the home. Fresh and Clean!
  • The cool clean kitchen is completely equipped and just the right size to have a helper and whip up fat juicy burgers for the grill out back.

    My family and I really enjoyed our stay here, and would come back in a heartbeat. The house was older, but very well kept and updated. The pool was very nice to have, though it tended to get dirty after a bad storm. We loved walking to the beach, especially
    in the evening, and hearing the roar of the ocean as we passed the dunes. Would recommend that some inexpensive stepping stones be placed along the sides of the pool to keep the dirt from being kicked up and washed into the pool, and fixing the water damage
    to the paneling and ceiling in the upstairs bedroom.

    My husband, 3 small children, parents and myself stayed in this great cottage just last week. The cottage was in a great location within walking distance of the beach. The outdoor shower was a wonderful amenity especially with the children to wash all the sand and salt away. We spent a large amount of time on the outdoor back porch and in the pool. The house was clean, decorated great (my kids loved all the fish), and the kitchen had EVERYTHING that you needed to cook or back just about anything. My husband, who was hesitant to come to the beach, was alreay talking about coming back to stay next summer. Thank you for all the great memories.

    I can honestly say (and I speak for my family as well!) that this was one of the most memorable occasion we have spent together as a family. The Henery, Kelly and Richardson family came to honor Chelsea...she graduated from
    SCAD with a BFA in Illustration/Advertising. We had a bit of heaven in the Mermaid Cottage "Basking Under the Tybee Sun". The location was perfect...near the beach yet close enought to go in Savannah. When we arrived everything was pristine and even more than I hoped for. We enjoyed the pool! We WILL be back...our family has a new vacation place. Thanks to all of the mermaids and we hope to see you next year!!

    We enjoyed 'Basking Under the Tybee Sun' so much in 2010, when we rented the home for the girls' spring break, we decided to do it again this year. The house and grounds are perfect in many ways - the pool that wraps around the porch affords a constant relaxing splish splash - and makes swimming for the kids easy on us adults. The house is very comfortably appointed and charming. It's design fosters an easy settling in; after just a little while there, it feels like home. It's an easy walk to the beach - and 7th street peer is quiet and family oriented.
    The Mermaids are outstanding hosts; they are always available; called to check on us and ask if we needed anything; and present constant good old-fashioned Savannah graciousness.

    We basked in bliss again this year!

    We had a wonderful stay at Basking Under the Tybee Sun. The house was beautiful and we really felt at home. The walk to the beach was not far and the beach buggy was really convenient. We stayed with our two teenagers and our two dogs and it was a very stress free, relaxing stay for everyone. Our two dogs loved the house, too, especially the screened front and back porches. They would sit and watch people forever. We rented bikes and rode all over the island for two days. It was so much fun. We had a wonderful experience with Mermaid Cottages and HIGHLY recommend them. We will stay with them when we visit next time. Love, love, loved the house and the service they provided.

    We generally come at least once a year to Tybee. This was, by far, the most comfortable place in which we've stayed. I fell and injuried my knee just before we unloaded the car and the Mermaid Staff responded to my needs immediately. After a 3 hour stint in a Savannah ER, the cottage was a welcome sight when I returned to the island. The cottage was perfect for all of us - ages 7 months to 67 years. The house had wide enough doors to accommodate my walker and the beds were oh so comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all kinds of cookware and my son and granddaughter even took a dip in the pool before the weather turned too cool to do so. I never did see the upstairs but my two granddaughters enjoyed being up there away from the grownups. All and all, the time at Tybee created more fond memories of that wonderful island.
