  Enlisted Men's Mess Hall was the perfect choice for our family of 4 during a visit to Savannah for SCAD Parents Weekend. The cottage is very clean and comfortable and the kitchen has everything we needed to make home cooked meals for our starving art student. The screened porch is a wonderful way to relax and the north end of Tybee is very quite and peaceful. The beach is a short walk. Highly recommend Sundae Cafe, North Beach Bar and Grill restaurants as well as a private boat tour of the marsh land and islands with Capt. Harve Ferrelle of Sweet Lowland Tybee Tours.

  We can't say enough about our stay at the Enlisted Men's Mess Hall. The cottage was just like home, we could have stayed forever! Perfect neighborhood, short walk to the beach, and our kids loved stopping at the wood swing on our way to the beach each day. We will definitely visit again!

  This cottage is a great location. Only about a 5 min walk to the beach, playground in the park behind the house, and short walk to restaurants. Love the screened porch!!! Design of the cottage is great!

  My mom, sister and I had a great trip because we stayed in one of the wonderful Mermaid Cottages. My husband and I had stayed in one last Thanksgiving and I decided to bring my family to see the island too. Very quaint and love the small decorating details also. We had a very comfortable stay and will be back soon! The staff was also very helpful with whatever we needed.

  My visit to the Enlisted Men's Mess Hall put the Bloom of Spring in my Winter, to quote what John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, once wrote about Tybee. With the cottage's perfect location near the North Beach, I was able to walk to the beach...despite a torn knee... beside large pines, live oaks, and tropical palms, plus many flowers already showing early springtime colors. I felt a part of the island, the neighborhood, staying is this extremely clean and freshly decorated cottage, with just the right amount of vintage touches relating to the historic Fort Screven locale. After a few chats with the island's purrfectly gracious felines, friendly joggers, and a bite of island food, I made a mental not that next time I'll bring Sandy, my beagle, and more sunscreen. This sojourn a bit of a solo retreat, without a doubt I'll return with family to this cozy corner cottage to share in the fun, quirky island lifestyle that makes Tybee so special, and even more so I found when the crowds of summer are sparse, parking is easy, and the mellow mood of winter shines with its own warming glow.

  My sister and I travelled to the US from Australia in Dec 2011, after staying in NYC for ten nights, we were quite homesick. All of that changed once we were dropped off at this cottage, our whole trip finally felt like a holiday. It was just the most perfect stay we could have hoped for. The attention to detail is exceptional, there is not one thing the team at Mermaid Cottages hasn't thought of. The cottage felt clean, fresh and summery. The bed was so comfortable I could have slept all week, and the bathtub! Wow. You could have a party in there. I have stayed in a lot of places, all around the world, and this cottage is without a doubt the best so far. Thank you so much for the blessing of letting us stay here.

  I adored this quaint little cottage. I almost felt like I was living in the time period of the "Big Band". I plan to return soon & often. We met Mary Lou & Gerry of the Mermaid Cottages staff as we were leaving...wonderful & caring ladies, wanting to know if everything was to our satisfaction. Excellent stay & would definately recommend the Enlisted Men's Mess Hall to everyone. I only wish the windows could open (painted shut). Plenty of room & a very well stocked kitchen! Lovely decorations, too. Hoping to return in a couple months & would love to plan an extended stay if possible.

  Our family of 4 (2 children aged 11 and 9) had a very comfortable holiday in this charming ho me. The kitchen was well stocked with the basics (including coffee!)so eating in was easy. The kids loved using the chalkboard (an 'old fashioned' i-pad). The
  beach was a pleasant and easy walk to get to. The only complaint we had was that since it is a semi-detached cottage, from the master bedroom we could hear the neighbour's tv/voices/running children etc. after 10pm as we tried to sleep. Perhaps a note in each
  cottage explaining the 'thin walls' and asking for quiet after 10pm would help and/or moving the location of the tv on the other side. But we are definitely looking forward to staying here again. Thank you so much for your courteous and caring business approach

  The Enlisted Mens Mess Hall was our "home away from home" for 5 nights while we vacationed, celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. It was paradise! The location was awesome - only a short wallk to the north beach, in a very quiet, cozy residential neighborhood. We loved the screenend in porch and enjoyed quiet conversation and a glass of wine each night. The cottage was beautifully decorated and clean. The pictures online just don't do it justice! We had an issue with the TV (who needs TV on vacation anyway, right?) but my husband called and Jan helped us resolve the issue right away. We loved our stay on Tybee Island and can't wait to come back again some day. Thanks Mermaid Cottages for making our stay one we will never forget!

  We were a group of two parents and two young boys, and all had a terrific week at the Enlisted men's Mess Hall. The cottage is adorable, spotless, and well appointed, with plenty of room for two children and two adults. The beach is hardly a five minute stroll away, and the large screened porch makes a wonderful early morning and evening hang-out. The location could not have been more perfect, relaxed and quiet with very friendly neighbors who welcomed us warmly.

  When I waited until the last week before the 4th of July to find a place to book, I was happy that you had a place available. Realizing that I had waiting too long, I assumed that the only place left would be the worst place you had. Our expectations were not only meet; you exceeded them in every aspect. The pictures on the internet didn't do the cottage justice. It was much bigger and looked better than what we had seen on the internet. The location couldn't have been better. We were away from all the hassle, but just a short walk to the beach. The cottage was spotless inside and out. We look forward to going back to Tybee Island and will defiantly rent from Mermaid Cottages again.

  Every June my husband and I book a different cottage with Diane at mermaid cottages and ad always the cottage was exceptional!! Clean, everything you could need for cooking was accessible, and the decoration was comfy and adorable!! The staff at mermaid are very friendly my only complaint was that after driving 8 hrs we arrived at 4 pm and were told to come back in a half hour which was a little discouraging since we were tired and were traveling with dogs. But we are already planning our trip for next year!! The fun part? Choosing one of the mermaid cottages to rent sooo many to choose from!

  The history of this area is so interesting and staying at the cottage only sparks interest in that history. Particlarly loved the inclusion of magazines as a part of the decor reflecting back to the era when the sottage was used as part of the Fort.
  My only major dilike - and this was due to my son who is physically handicapped and staying with us - was the difficulty in using the shower facilities because of no grab bars (vertical, please) to assist in entering/exiting withtou falling. The staff could not have been more helpful and the ambience of the cottage led us back to a time many years ago. Great proximity to beach, lighthouse and beach. Even our finicky furry family member was comfortable and appreciated the attention to her. My major, major disappointment was in having to leave.
