  • Quaint and charming, this little home has a sweet little yard to enjoy!
  • Notice the flip flops hanging to dry? They've just finished a long walk on the beach- which is directly across the street!
  • Where else but on Tybee do you get to do your laundry outside where you can hear the birds sings and feel the ocean breezes.
  • The outdoor shower features hot and cold water, privacy and a conch shower head.

  • This pictures shows how the Roost Sleeping Cottage is just out the back door from the main cottage. You can also see the laundry room which is right out the back door of the main cottage.
  • The Guest House sits right off the main home and offers charm and privacy for additional guests.
  • The entrance to the back cottage sleeping room. Full AC, TV and queen size bed. Oh yes, amazing ocean breezes and a partial view of the ocean.

  • The back cottage/ bedroom is the former ticket booth from the Tybee Marsh Hen Rail Road. You can see it's literaly out the back door of the cottage.
  • The back yard has some really fun outdoor seating. All painted in cottage colors of course!
  • The cottage comes with a hand made oyster roaster- just waiting to be enjoyed. We also have a charcoal grill
  • This is the entrance to the beach bath- 99 1/2 steps away.
  • Old Love is only 99 steps to the beach! A short walk well worth the effort!
  • This is another of the original old Tybee cottages that sits across the street. The beach is right in front of this cottage. We love our beach street and how the cottages are loved for their beautiful oldness.
  • This is a true cottage with truly one big room. This is the view coming in the front door looking towards the living area and kitchn
  • The kitchen has everything you need to cook all your wonderful meals. Remeber- this is a cottage and does NOT have a dishwasher. Unless you count the kids...

  • Treasures from the beach adorn the cottage everywhere you look.

  • Perfect little corner for reading, relaxing or napping!
  • The front of the cottage has a twin day bed which is ideal to relax . You can look at the windows and have a partial ocean view
  • A blonde mermaid has been sighted in the cottage! Handcarved by a local artist!

  • This is the double bed in the main cottage. There is not an actual door, but there is the half wall and the curtains.
  • Bedroom in Main House - lovely private retreat for any one!
  • What a better way to enjoy your afternoon- napping in the cottage!
  • Sunny and cheery Full bath room. The bathroom is in the main cottage and features a shower, toilet and sink. There is also another outsdoor private shower with hot and cold water.
  • The queen bed is in the back cottage.
  • The Guest Cottage features a queen size bed and a partial ocean view. Pure magic! This is a seperate cottage in the behind the cottage with your own door. The cottage is about a 10 step climb up the staris. When the windows are open you can smell the ocean!
  • The back cottage has it's own cable TV. There is also AC to keep you cool.
  • This home is all about the details. How cute is this lobster light!

CLASSIC 1920's beach cottage with ocean views on Tybee's original cottage row. Tin roof, bead board walls, pocket windows, and picket-fenced yard. Less than 100 steps (99 1/2 to be precise!) from the beach. Very private beach access. Quaint, quiet retreat on a private road within walking distance to great restaurants, shopping. Perfect romantic getaway for a couple, girls retreat or family vacation. Modern kitchen and bathroom; cable television with DVD player; iPOD sound system. We love, love , love this cottage!!! Please note- the back queen bedroom ( with TV, AC) is a seperate cottage and not connected to the main cottage. The washer and dryer are located outside as well. This home would not be suitable if you need a home where the children need to be in the same home as the parents.

    My sisters, daughter, & I wanted to celebrate turning 50, 55, & 60 years old with a special road trip, highlighted with time at the beach. Found this cottage & found it to be just as quaint & special as it looked in the pictures. The beach was wonderful, clean, not crowded. And our last morning, the dolphins played in th water, almost like it was just for us. Staff was awesome, so helpful & friendly. Have & will recommend to friends. If we ever plan another trip to the area, this will be our first choice.

    My mom and I decided to do something different and stay in a cottage instead of a hotel or condo for our annual trip together. Overall, we had a nice experience. We found the staff helpful & informative. The main negative w/ us was not having access to the thermostat. It was locked up. Our last morning, the temp. was in the 40's and we were really cold as we were preparing breakfast and packing.

    We had a great time at Old Love cottage! The house was so cute that I am already planning my retirement that house! :) It was like walking back in time. My only suggestions to the owner would be to get a much larger television set. It rained while we were there and it would have been nice to be able to watch a movie together, but the set was too small and the volume not loud enough. The other suggestion would be to continue the oyster stepping stones to the back Sleeping House, again, it rained and we had to slosh through the water to go back and forth. Overall, our stay was just great!

    In 2008 by best friend and I stayed for 8 days in Jane Coslick's "99 Steps from the Beach," the house next door. We loved it so much that I knew someday I had to bring my husband of 38 years - also an Old Love - to Tybee. At that time, Jane was selling "Old Love," then named the "Luscious Litte Cottage," and she gave me a tour. It's been sold and redecorated since then & is still just as adorable. My husband and I agree that our stay was WONDERFUL! We have no complaints whatsoever. We found it clean & cozy thanks to responsive heat and cooling (we used both and none, weather depending). We feel so blessed to have had such a romantic, relaxing time. It felt like we were in our own home on the beach! We'll be back!

    The cottage was fantastic! We are a family of 4 and had plenty of room to stretch out. Not to mention how adorable it was, love the decor and the location. We were close to the beach for nice walks, our only complaint was the weather. It rained everyday, but because Savannah was so close we got to enjoy the city. We would like to go back and enjoy more of the beach. It was a great cottage & the staff was very helpful.
    If you have never been to Tybee Island, we all recommend it, great restaurants (The Breakfast Club!, A.J.s Dockside), great stores, great beaches, you can relax or drive into Savannah for more great dinning and history lessons! Dolphins, stingrays, manetees, aligators, gorgeous sunsets, oh my!

    We definitely enjoyed our stay at Old Love cottage. It was a great place for our family of four to enjoy our first trip to Tybee Island. We had a great time at the beach, visiting the light house and Ft. Pulaski. The restaurants were great as well as the relaxed, layed back environment.

    The only thing about the cottage that should be clearly listed in the description is that the second bedroom is actually in a different building than the cottage. We figured this out before hand but when I booked this cottage I did not realize there were too separate buildings. Since we have small children, one adult and one child had to sleep together. Bummer for mom & dad!

    Oh well, over all Old Love was a delight to stay in and we were very please that we found such a great place to spend our spring break.

    The location is truly within earshot of the beach along a dune trail at the end of a quiet street. The cottage was like a magic getaway, with the little cottage at the back an added bonus. Beautifully decorated, the cottages have a beachy, cozy, welcoming feel we have held onto long after returning to the cold North.     Mermaid Cottages made it easy to see this and several other attractive cottages on Tybee. The place was sweet and comfortable, on a dead-end street genuinely only a five minute walk to a beautiful open beach. As our visit was off-season (early March), we enjoyed a sense of real seclusion. The property includes a second building that feels like a huge (screened in) treehouse for afternoon naps. We would definitely stay at Old Love cottage again.

    We loved Old Love, it was in a perfect location. The Cottage was spotless and comfortable. The linens smelled so good, if we could bottle it up we would be in heaven. So close to the beach, fine dining and a convenience store. The "Tree House" behind the main cottage as we called it, was so unique and quaint; a room surronded by windows with the ocean breeze coming through at night. The staff was amazing and always available to assist. Old Love is a must stay!

    We stayed in Old Love cottage for the week of our wedding in October 2010 and most of our guests stayed in other Mermaid Cottages. All of the cottages got rave reviews from our wedding guests and the Mermaid staff gave us impeccable, personal service all weekend. Jan and Barbara even made a point to introduce themselves to us personally during the weekend and called us to make sure everything was going smoothly with the accomodations. As always, we give Mermaid Cottages our highest recommendation for Tybee accomodations and we will never stay with any other company. Thank you, Mermaids!!
