  I came across designer and artist Jane Coslicks blog one day and read her story about salvaging and restoring old cottages on Tybee Island which is how I found Mermaid Cottages.
  
  The staff at Mermaid Cottges were very friendly and professional and made sure we had everything we needed to ensure we had a wonderful stay.
  
  It was nice to get out of run of the mill hotel chain room and stay in a charming renovated cottage from the past. The collection of cottages that Jane has salvaged and restored are just so charming and her decor and colors give every cottage a individual beachy feel. Many of her cottages have been profiled in "Cottages and Bungelows" magazine as well in other books.
  
  We loved Mermaid Cottages and had a wonderful stay on Tybee!

  I am teary-eyed writing this review as I miss Fish Camp Cottage so much!! It was a girl's weekend along w/ our "furry babies" and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the home. The completely fenced-in yard was such a huge hit. We felt so secure knowing we could just open a door and let the dogs explore the yard. We relaxed in the adirondack chairs by the fire pit every afternoon and into the evening while our dogs roamed the yard. If we weren't outside in the front yard, we were on the screened-in side porch. Even though we consider ourselves fairly smart women, we had trouble turning on the tv. The Mermaids came to our rescue; however, we never turned it back on after they left (sorry Ladies). The house had such wonderful outdoor areas to enjoy, it seemed silly to be inside watching tv. The house was immaculate and decorated so cute. We loved reading the history of the house and seeing what it looked like before and after. WOW....what a lot of work...but SO worth it. The location is wonderful. Close to the back , no traffic at all (unless you count people out walking their dogs or riding their bikes). I really don't think I ever saw a car drive by. Beds were super comfortable. Surprisingly, even the daybed on the front porch.
  
  This is our 3rd time renting from the Mermaids and this is, by far, our favorite cottage/location. We are already planning a trip in June and just counting down the days until it's TYBEE TIME!!
  
  Please don't hesitate to rent this cottage. You will NOT be disappointed....well, only until it's time to leave!!

  We visited Fish Camp Cottage for a few days in April during our two teenage sons' spring break. We were looking for a quiet spot that wasn't too far away from beach and restaurants. Fish Camp Cottage was perfect being only a few blocks away from both. We cooked in a couple of nights and found the kitchen to be well-equipped and spacious. With 2 bedrooms/1.5 baths and a quirky layout the property was good for 4 people but may feel crowded with more. All in all it was a great time and we may stay there again sometime.

  An enchanting cottage, well located and a bargin for the the amount charged. Only wish that the back had been better prepared, ie, swept, chairs set out, it was not as inviting as the rest of the home, but this was only a minor element. Staff very helpful as advertised, to the point one even came over late at night to help me figure out the remote control for the TV. That is service!

  This cottage is adorable! We came to Tybee to celebrate my birthday. I was a little worried about the weather, as Hurricane Sandy was passing by. Fish Camp Cottage is so charming, we could have spend the entire weekend inside. The weather turned out to be fine, no rain, just a bit windy. The kids were able to play on the beach. The cottage had everything we needed, was so comfortable, and plenty of room for all of us, including Rosie, the labradoodle.

  Everything went so smoothly..from making the reservation to getting access to the property. Communication was excellent and so were the directions and instructions. I reserved this place for friends and they could not have been happier. Their original plans were to drive to town most of the weekend and skulk around some antique stores. They reported: "The property was so delightful we stayed at Tybee the entire weekend and only left when we had to check out". Sounded like it was a hit! and from what I heard everything they needed was stocked and it was wonderful.

  I spent many summers at Tybee growing up and I am now 61 years old. We have stayed at quite a few of the Mermaid Cottages, but Fish Camp is my favorite. It reminds me so much of the "old days" at Tybee. All of the cottages have been great and the mermaids have made our visits that much better. I will be retiring in the near future and we plan to make Tybee our second home by staying with Mermaid Cottages.

  LOVED Fish Camp ... it is a lovely cottage; well-decorated and comfortable for our family of four. The only negative would be the dishwasher; after rinsing the dishes, running the dishwasher once through with hot water and running a full cycle using the requested detergent, the dishes were not clean. So I washed dishes by hand all week. As much as I loved the cottage, that would be enough to keep me away. On another note, I would recommend removing the desk from the screened porch and putting some type of chair/ottoman or chasie lounge in it's place so two people can comfortably enjoy the porch at the same time.

  Four of stayed for a week in early August. The cottage was spotless, unique, and stocked with every utensil and pot you could hope for. We received multiple calls and emails before we left, a couple of calls once we were in just to check, and during a tornado warning received two calls to make sure we had heard and to tell us to take it seriously. The location is great being away from the commercial side but not so far you can't walk there if you want to. Savannah is an easy drive away and so easy to take advantage of the various activities like the Haunted Pub Crawl we managed through. The ocean was unbelievably warm and the beaches clean and not particularly crowded except a tad on the weekends. The only downside was that the food on Tybee is average at best. Just more reason to hit the store and cook at Fish Camp Cottage. All in all we had a wonderful week and hope to return someday. When we do we will only rent from Mermaid Cottages.

  I can't say enough good things about our stay at Fish Camp Cottage. The property was spotless when we arrived, with a homey, inviting decor. The cabinets and pantry had every pot, pan, and utensil you could imagine. It was great to be able to visit the beach in the morning and return to the cottage for lunch and to put the kids down for a nap and take some down time for ourselves. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 young kids, and the outdoor shower was awesome!

  Fish Camp cottage is so cute and comfy. We had a very relaxing and memorable vacation week there and will definately be back. It was so quiet at the house, all we could hear were the birds during the day and the frogs at night. The house is within walking distance to Aj's and the beach. We even rode bikes to the grocery store! The sunset over the marsh area is gorgeous! Our dogs loved the fenced in yard, which is adorable. The whole rental process was easy, organized and very personable. They even called to check to see if we had needed anything. Thank you very much!!

  We had a great stay at Fish Camp. It is a quirky, fun cottage with a great location - everything easily accessible by bike. The dogs had a marvelous time in the fenced yard and we loved sitting on the Adirondecks in the evening enjoying a glass of wine while they "patrolled the perimeter". This is our second stay with Diane (we stayed at Island Dog years ago when the Mermaids were just getting started) and the customer service couldn't be beat. The Mermaids were accomodating and quick to address any issues. Many, many thanks for your awesome cottages and love of dogs!

  Loved the funky, colorful, little cottage set in the heart of Tybee Island. Plenty of books to read, games to play. Kitchen was well stocked. Loved the sun porch and outdoor shower! The Mermaid folx were helpful and professional. This is the third place we have rented from Mermaid and we have always been impressed. Each cottage has been unique and fun. My only wish this time, is would have liked to have a pitcher with filtered water waiting for us in the fridge as was provided our two previous visits. That was such a nice touch given the sulfur taste to the tap water.

  Fish Camp Cottage is ADORABLE, our over-used, but apt description for everything in the cottage. My only caveat, it cannot really be billed as a three bedroom place. Our low-maintenance sister, a widow, had the daybed at the front for sleeping and there is no privacy nor closet space for belongings. We were two couples and a single and there would not have been room for another person. The location was perfect for us, very quiet, and we enjoyed our island visit immensely!

We want to make sure everyone knows it is in the sunroom, so we have quite a few pictures of it on the Fish Camp cottage description. While it's not a dedicated bedroom, it does offer additional sleeping area besides the two actual bedrooms.   Recently, we stayed at Fish Camp Cottage over Christmas. It was wonderful. The cottage was beautifully decorated for the holiday. The staff were helpful when we encounted a problem with the Internet connection. We enjoyed the quiet location near the marsh and within walking distance to the beach. Lots of nice places to walk our doggies, and the fenced yard was great. Good food from AJ's nearby. In all, we had a very enjoyable and refreshing visit and would love to come back some day!

  This cottage is adorable. Cute as a button and a great place to relax. Good location-close to the water and good restaurants. Needs a chaise or comfortable chair outside to sit and read.

  We loved our stay at Fish Camp cottage. We especially loved the fact that they are pet-friendly (fee). The cottage was well-appointed and comfortable, great location on Tybee, very easy drive to Savannah. Would highly recommend. We did not have any problems or questions so did not need to contact anyone however they left their numbers and encouraged us to call with any issues.

  This cottage was very cozy and in a great location. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this cottage and Mermaid Cottages Vacation Rentals to anyone. We encountered a few issues including loud squirrels in the ceiling, a leak in the ceiling during a VERY heavy rain, and a leak in the bathroom plumbing causing puddled water on the floor. ALL of these issues were taken care of immediately, and we were compensated fairly for our discomfort. I cannot imagine renting from a better staff. These ladies really care about customer service. We will be booking a vacation with them again in the future.

  We decided to head to Tybee Island for our summer vacation this year. We chose Fish Camp Cottage, and it turned out to be one of the best places we have ever stayed. The house was just the right size for our family of four, and we just fell in love with it. It was super clean and charmingly decorated. Our favorite way to spend the evening was to sit out on the screened in porch, eat s'mores, and play Scrabble. The outdoor shower was perfect to wash the sand off after a day at the beach before heading inside. The location was also perfect -- we were able to walk to both the main downtown section of Tybee and AJ's Dockside Restaurant for dinner. When our week was up, we all were very sad to say good-bye to our little beach cottage, and we are already plotting a return visit.

  We love the Fish Camp cottage. This was the second time we have stayed there, and we couldn't ask for a more comfortable spot. It's in a great area for walking the dogs, just on street in from the marsh, quiet. The beds are comfy, and there are lots of wonderful reading spots.

  You should explain that the back yard is not fully fenced in. There is a gap in the fence between the palm tree and the neighbor's fence. Our dog loved exploring the entire property and is not big enough to jump the fence. However, a large dog could easily jump the front section.

  Only a few things we would note. The lights on the outside cabana come on in the middle of the night (like 3am) and if you are sleeping on the porch, its like a flood light coming in the window. The timer needs attention. Also, on our last morning, construction started bright and early and it was fairly noisy the entire rest of the stay. Our friend is staying for a couple more days for some much needed rest but it will probably be really noisy for her too. Would have been good to know this ahead of time...Otherwise lovely cottage (couldn't find a teapot...but otherwise all very well stocked!) Thanks for sharing the cottage

  We had a great time at Fish Camp! The cottage was clean, cozy, and comfortable and everything a beach cottage should be. We were hoping for a respite from a cold Michigan winter and the weather was gorgeous! We spent quite a bit of time at the beach (less than a 10 minute walk away) and in the yard playing with our dog. There are great places to walk and run and Fish Camp is close to the marsh where you can see beautiful sunsets. We would definitely love to come back again!

  The staff at Mermaid Cottages contacted us three times during our stay to make sure we were satisfied and we were. All of my interactions with them have been good. Fish Camp is a perfect location on Tybee: quiet but close to everything; we enjoyed our time there. Being pet friendly, it was great for our two small dogs. We have been to Tybee several times, but this may have been the best.

  Being a repeat renter of Mermaid Cottages I knew I would be more than happy with the accommodations but when the holiday lights came on at nite it was like we were in a magical wonderland. The cottage was perfect for the two of us and our two dogs. Several times when people walked by they would ask for information about the cottage as it was just so charming and quaint. It will definitely be a place that I will request for future stays.
