  Location is very convenient to the IGA and to the beach/downtown. We did a lot of cooking and found the kitchen to be well equipped. The family room is comfortable & the satellite TV was perfect for catching all the conference tournament basketball action.
  Minor quibbles were a sticky back door and beds were on the hard side. The upstairs master is an open loft, so not much privacy.

  We had our best trip ever. All of us have been to Tybee multiple times, stayed at Mermaid cottages & have made friends locally & love the area. There were several issues with the house that were rectified ASAP by Mermaid Jan & her hubby Bobby. Mermaid Daine was awesome too as well as Mermaid Denise with our booking & extras. From delivered coffee to maintenance, not to mention our empty cups at the beach from Jan, Bobby & their fun friends! The Mermaids went above & beyond with their "WORLD CLASS SERVICE" when necessary, which shows that customer service is not dead! Mermaids, YOU WERE & ARE THE BEST! Thank you for putting up with us! ;)

  We love our cottage and dealing with Mermaid. I want to commend you on your friendly and helpful staff. The cottage was all that was advertised close to the beach and within walking distance to just about everything. The only problem we had was figuring out how to get the key out of the new lock box but once that was figured out we had no problems. We will be renting this cottage again and again and I will recommend it to others.

  We had a great time during our week at Tybee. Shore Leave provided an excellent location (1 block from the beach & very close to shops, restaurants and the grocery) with very nice ammenities. The only slight drawbacks were: 1) Master bedroom is a loft 2) Not a very big fenced in yard for the children 3) Traffic on Butler Avenue was at times high volume & loud.
  All in all though it was a great, relaxing stay. We will definitley be back!

Many people love staying on Butler Avenue as it is so close to the beach, shops and grocery store as you mentioned; however if you wish to stay away from the main road and traffic, we can definitely assist you with choosing a more remote location on the island.   Our Girl Scout troop stayed in 5 houses during our trip to Savannah. Four of these were rented through Mermaid Cottages. Everyone was very happy with their housing. We had a busy schedule so when we were at our houses, it was wonderful that we did not have to worry about anything and they were comfortable and inviting to relax in.   We came in on a Sunday and left on a Wednesday. The house itself was great location wise to the beach and stores. Since it is on the main road through town it could be quite noisy at times with motorcyles and larger trucks. Once people left on Sunday the traffice noise was not so much an issue.

  I got concerned when I found out that the property was right on the "main drag"... but after arriving, found that to absolutely not be an issue.... actually, an asset. 30 mph speed zone... no loud traffic, central to virtually everything. Walk to grocery store, convenience store, restaurants... and one block to the beach! Great rental for our first visit to Tybee Island.

  My mom, brother, 12 year old niece and 3 year old nephew spent 5 days at Shore Leave. We had a marvelous time. The only thing we had to supply was our food and beach gear. The amenities from the new appliances to the jacuzzi in the master bedroom were an added bonus.

  We recently stayed at Shore Leave for 3 nights and were so happy with it! It has so much room and we were very comfortable there. I love the decorating -- throughout the stay we kept noticing little details that we didn't notice before. While it is on a busy road, it did't detract from our visit -- rather it was nice to sit on the front deck and watch the cars go by. The location is walking distance to great restaurants and just a couple of minutes from the beach. We had so much fun at Tybee and would definitely return to Shore Leave for our next visit. Also, the management was very accommodating when we needed to change our visit dates. I would highly recommend Mermaid Cottages!

  I have rented approximately 50 properties, in various locations, over the years, so I have a solid base from which to judge a property & rental company. Mermaid is the best I've come across, and Shore Leave was a fantastic beach home. I really appreciated the base supplies stocked in the home. (I hate when a rental comes without even toilet paper). Mermaid had paper towels, TP, napkins, to-go cups, coffee, soap/laundry products, & garbage bags. Some of it lasted our entire stay! The very best part of renting with Mermaid was their service. They called beforehand, to ensure we had everything we needed, and called again at the beginning of our stay. In addition, there was no long list of exiting instructions that leave you almost cleaning the house when you've already paid for cleaining - another of my peeves. With Mermaid, you just pack up & go - they take care of the rest. I think it can be best said that Mermaid operates with the assumption that you'll behave yourself & take care of their properties, instead of treating you like an intruder. Many thanks to everyone at Mermaid for making our stay so comfortable & inviting. Thanks to the owners of Shore Leave for a great house. This was our first stay on Tybee Island, and we are in love with both Tybee and Savannah.

  Everything was very nice except we were not expecting to have to take the dogs out on a leash to the fenced yard. I guess we assumed when the property description said fenced yard it meant access from an inside door. Otherwise, all else was fantastic! We are hoping to come back to Tybee Island in April. We will use Mermaid Cottages again.
